Kimberly Williams-Paisley at the CMA

November 15, 2008

Actress Kimberly Williams Paisley shows off her bump in a flowing, maroon halter dress at the Country Music Awards. Kimberly and her husband, country singer Brad Paisley, are expecting their second child this spring. Their son, Huck, is 21 months old.

After winning the award for Best Male Vocalist, Paisley went into the audience and kissed her baby bump.

“Kimberly and I were both talking about how special that will be for our child to grow up someday and see that tape when I kissed her belly. He or she – we don’t know what it is yet – will be the second child and they always have trouble feeling important. I didn’t do this with Huck – so they’ve got one on him.” Say it with me: Awwwww…..how cute!

Pregnancy Fashion tip: When wearing a long, flowing dress, ensure the dress is sized appropriately for your shape. If the dress is too big, your body will be overhwhelmed with fabric making you appear larger than you really are.

How to buy a corduroy maternity skirt

November 11, 2008

As Jennifer Garner shows here, you can indeed wear a corduroy skirt when you are expecting — you just need to know what to look for so you can look stylish and be comfortable.

Look for corduroy that has a touch of spandex to give it some stretch, like the Olian Corduroy Pencil Skirt from Zappos.com. After all, the last thing you need is a skirt that makes you waddle even more!

Depending on what you prefer, you can find a skirt with the type of panel (full panel, mid-panel or under-the-belly panel) that is most comfortable for you. Garner’s skirt features the under-the-belly panel.

You should also consider length. I have found that a skirt that is shorter than knee-height tends to leave an expecting mama feeling overexposed. The only exception to that rule is if you pair the skirt with leggings to give you some extra coverage. Corduroy has enough texture that pairing it with leggings is a bit much, so stick to buying a skirt that is at least knee-height.

Rebecca Romijn talks pregnancy cleavage

November 10, 2008

Pregnant actress Rebecca Romijn, seen here on the cover of Page Six Magazine, talks about dealing with her changing body, specifically her new cleavage. The Ugly Betty star is expecting twin girls in January with her husband, Jerry O’Connell.

“I can’t eat enough. My ankles are huge,” she confesses. “But I feel beautiful.”

The actress, who is expecting her first child — or in her case children — says she is ready to be a mother. “I’ve just surrendered to the fact that [parenting] will be the hardest thing I’ll ever do. I know my life will never be the same — but in the best way possible.”

What else has she surrendered to? Wearing a maternity bra 24/7. “I can’t move anymore…I’m a beached whale! I have not been without a bra this entire pregnancy. I refuse. I’m not taking any chances. I’m determined to keep the puppies up!”

Because many women notice breast tenderness and increased size by 8 weeks of pregnancy, a maternity bra is essential to feeling good throughout your pregnancy. Your new cleavage needs some extra support. Find out things to consider as well as tips to get ensure the perfect fit here.

How to look stylish as a new mom

November 8, 2008

Now that you are a new-mom (or well on your way to becoming one) you may have to pack away your dry- clean-only pants and silk blouses for clothes that are more kid-friendly. Find out what to wear that will take you from mommy & me playdates to the playground in style.

As new-mom Nicole Richie so aptly put it: “I have to wear things that can be spit up on!” What covers spit up? Printed cotton tops and colorful dresses are two great additons to your new-mom wardrobe. Speaking from experience, spit-up really shows up on black tops so them at home until your baby is past that stage.

You will be bending over frequently to get him in/out of the stroller and car seat, so wear a top that you don’t have to worry about gaping open revealing your bra underneath. Layering a tight black tank underneath your shirt is a great way to give you some coverage.

Forget about wearing short skirts — you need to wear clothes that you can sit on the floor in comfortable. Opt for cropped pants, long skirts or comfortable jeans.

What is your favorite new-mom outfit?

Pregnancy style tip: Make your eyes pop

November 8, 2008

Are you feeling anything but glamorous now that your belly has grown to the point where you can’t see your feet? Why not throw on your favorite maternity wrap dress, slip on your favorite pair of sassy flats and look red-carpet ready by making your eyes the focus of your face by applying fake eyelashes.

Applying fake lashes can be a snap if you know how to do it. Follow these tips from celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff, (who has worked on Jennifer Aniston and Kate Bosworth) as told to InStyle magazine:

1. Use short, indivicual lashes rather than full strips — they look much more realistic.
2. Instead of attaching them at the outer corners, open up your eyes even more by placing the lash clusters in the center of the top lids.
3. Apply two coats of masacara, then glue on the faux lashes one at a time. “Don’t curl them afterward, or there’s a chance they’ll break off.”

She recommends Ardell Duralash individual lashes ($4) from Ulta.
